The Orchard School is seeking an innovative, dynamic, collaborative and experienced Spanish teacher to join our faculty community for the 2018-2019 school year. Responsibilities include teaching Spanish to students in seventh and eighth grades. The successful candidate will be one who is capable of designing lessons and educating students utilizing exercises and activities that enhance Spanish language acquisition. Additional traits to a proficient Spanish language teacher include versatility, patience, good communication abilities, a sincere desire to help students learn, and the capacity to think critically. Orchard seeks to hire educators who possess a passion for equity and social justice, and who desire to grow personally and professionally in the field of education.
Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the teaching of the Spanish language
A minimum of two (2) years of middle school classroom experience
Fluent in Spanish
Excellent communication skills
Understanding of developmental needs and stages of middle school students
Familiarization with F.L.E.S. standards
Understanding of progressive teaching philosophy
Willingness to learn and improve professionally
Sound judgment and emotional maturity
Ability to collaborate and work with a team
Willingness to engage in all aspects of the Orchard community
