EF Academy is a private boarding and day high school. EF Academy is just north of New York City in Thornwood, NY. EF Academy is a part of EF Education First, which is a private educational organization that specializes in language training, educational travel, academic degree programs and cultural exchange.
EF Academy offers intensive university advising through challenging, engaging and satisfying work that enables every student to continuously improve in all academic areas. The school was started in an effort to meet the needs of young people dedicated to developing their future through international education. Cambridge IGCSE and International Baccalaureate coursework are offered to our students. Associate Director of University Advising
The Associate Director of University Advising will join a team of two associates and a director in a full-time 12- month position. The role will involve working closely with a caseload of approximately 150 students in grades 11 and 12 in a college counseling capacity.
Candidates should possess:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in college admissions, school counseling, or other related field
In-depth knowledge of colleges and universities as well as a contextual grasp of the current college admissions landscape
Experience working with an international population and/or evaluating international students
Ability to connect with students who speak English as a second language
Proven ability to proactively lead students, parents, faculty and staff through the nuanced realities of selective college admission.
Strong analytical writing skills and the ability to craft letters of recommendation filled with relevant information
Reviewing and providing feedback for student essays
Capability to engage students in a classroom and presentation settings
Active participation in local and national associations relevant to our profession, including NACAC, College Board and International ACAC, as well as interest in attending college tours and networking with colleagues in college counseling and college admissions
Strong public speaking skills and the desire to participate in events for students, parents and colleagues
A team-oriented approach to all aspects of the college counseling process and a collaborative spirit of engagement in all professional endeavors
Promoting EF Academy’s reputation with colleges by serving as an advocate for our students and by attending conferences
Sharing chaperone duties for college related events
Potential for international travel in an admissions role to increase enrollment for EF Academy
