The Derryfield School seeks a qualified part-time Chinese Language Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This role includes teaching two sections of Chinese to Level III and Level IV and being available for extra help for up to an hour each day (~15-20 hours per week).
As a faculty member, all teachers lead as positive educators and role models for the School community of students, parents, alumni, trustees and colleagues. In addition to being able to teach the Chinese language, candidates for this role must possess positive interpersonal skills, enjoy working with high school students, and have the energy and interest to contribute to the school community in a variety of areas.
A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Chinese Language Teaching or comparable field
Fluency in both Chinese and English
Minimum of two years teaching Chinese or comparable teaching experience
Must be able to legally work in the US
Must be able to lift 25 lbs independently and up to 50 lbs with assistance from another team member using appropriate lifting practices. The employee is frequently required to stand at least 70% of time, 15% walking, and 15% sitting.
Must be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks (such as phone calls, computer work, and receiving visitors all while teaching and assisting students) and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment.
Must have a strong commitment to, and ability to execute, superior service to parents and students.
Must be able to accept critical feedback and direction in a professional manner.
