The Library and Digital Literacy Specialist empowers students to be curious, creative and critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. The Summit Country Day School is seeking someone with a passion for Library and Information Science.
Manages, develops and delivers creative library programming in an innovative environment.
Lessons are based on library skills, social skills, and research using databases, eBooks, writing skills and exploring other cultures. Topics may vary to meet the needs of teachers and interests of students.
Provide library media center resources that will meet the informational, research, educational, and recreational needs of users.
Monitors student progress and assists students in accomplishing established learning objectives.
Provides access to creative technology such as Computer Aided Design workstations, 3-D printers, and robotics and electronics kits. Utilizes hands-on learning and collaboration in support of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematic) content and resources.
Assists in the promotion of library services and the Makerspace through tours, outreach, demonstrations and displays.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required a demonstrated interest in makerspaces preferred.
Ohio Department of Education certification required.
Possesses a comprehensive understanding of best practices for lower school/early childhood education.
Demonstrate a passion for driving student learning and success.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
