McDonogh School is seeking an energetic, creative, and caring Lower School Associate Head for August, 2018.
Create a school atmosphere that promotes joyful learning and an inclusive, welcoming, purposeful school tone.
Develop strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents and the capacity to foster and support a positive school culture.
Work as part of the Lower School administrative team to manage the day-to-day operation of the school. Direct support in matters of scheduling, curriculum development, faculty supervision, hiring and coordination of substitute teachers, student support and guidance, and parent communication.
Generate division-wide initiatives and successfully manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Actively participate in professional development in order to remain current with best practices.
Knowledge of and experience with the Reading and Writing Workshop models of teaching and the Responsive classroom approach are advantageous.

A minimum of 5 years experience in an elementary school setting.
Formal training and qualifications in early-childhood education.
