BB&N is seeking a full-time qualified, experienced and energetic upper school art instructor with significant experience in film and video. Primary responsibilities include teaching film and video, plus digital photography and/or one other medium as needed. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a studio, attending weekly Art Department and discipline-specific meetings, contributing to Art Department/Upper School initiatives as determined by the Department Head and the Upper School Director, and one other significant duty (such as coaching one season or otherwise) as determined by the Upper School Director. The instructor will be interested in school culture and engage in the creative and institutional life of the Upper School.
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of experience teaching high school art and running an equipment room and editing lab, as well as an understanding of the unique developmental stages of high school students. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate is expected to have strong experience in film and video including film lighting, and able to present a strong portfolio of personal and student work. Experience handling all facets of studio and gear maintenance is necessary.

In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents, including strong writing skills as a communication tool
