The Dean of Student Life supports the mission of the Academy by working with the entire community to promote the intellectual, social, and moral growth of our students. Responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of student life outside of the academic and athletic programs, the Dean of Student Life works closely with students and staff to build and maintain a distinctive and positive campus culture. The Dean of Student Life is a senior leadership position at Bridgton Academy and reports to the Head of School.
Supervision of all aspects of the Office of Student Life:
Student discipline and adherence to school rules and policies.
Student Handbook oversight and policy revision.
dormitory programming, dorm parents and staffing, day-to-day dormitory needs.
Student activities and community service, including student leadership council.
Coordination and oversight of campus evening and weekend supervision, student check-in and sign-outs.
Spearhead new student orientation in August and orientation for mid-year students in January.
Campus safety and emergency protocols and practices.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Dean of Students takes part in planning and execution of broad school initiatives.
Oversight of budgets for the areas under management.
Evaluates and supports the faculty and staff working in the Student Life programs.
Teaching and or coaching duties as assigned by the Head of School.
The strongest candidates for this position will have at least 5 years' experience as a dean or as an assistant dean at a residential school, or similar experience in Student Life at a residential college or university. Experience as a teacher and/or coach is a plus.
