The Waldorf School of Lexington, located in the greater Boston area, is seeking an exceptional educational leader to succeed School Director Robert Schiappacasse, who has led the school since 2011. The new director will be the driving force in advancing the school’s mission and shaping its future direction. Start date could range from July 2018 to July 2019, depending on the successful candidate’s availability.
The Waldorf School of Lexington serves over 200 students from preschool through grade 8, along with a thriving parent-child program. Part of a worldwide educational movement, WSL is one of the most established Waldorf schools in the country and is now in its 47th year. Cultivating critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance in our students, the school strives to instill an enthusiasm for learning, skills in collaboration, and the confidence to engage in a changing world.
WSL provides a challenging, arts-integrated curriculum in a healthy, joyful, and media-free environment. Located in historic Lexington, Massachusetts, the school’s campus abuts 183 acres of conservation land and is a short distance from the city of Boston.

Able to capitalize on the school’s strong legacy to further elevate the institution with respect to academics, enrollment, development, strategic planning, and the school’s vibrant, well established culture
Demonstrated leadership and management experience
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Strong track record of interpersonal skills and a demonstrated enthusiasm for building collaborative relationships
Prior experience participating in and directing fundraising activities such as capital campaigns
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Knowledge of Waldorf education and familiarity with anthroposophy
