Fugees Family Inc. in a non-profit organization that operates a year-round, tuition-free private school, Fugees Academy a middle and high school for refugee students. Founded in 2006, the organization’s flagship Fugees Academy campus is in Clarkston, Georgia and currently serves 86 students. The school is in its eleventh year, and is SAIS and SACS accredited. Fugees Academy is the first school in the United States dedicated to refugee education. Working as a team both on and off the field, members of the Fugees Academy community strive to support each other while working to achieve individual goals. We believe that this team mind-set nurtures and prepares young adults who will be the next generation of international and community leaders. The core design principles of the school include an extended school day, a low teacher-student-ratio, interactive instruction, a comprehensive tutoring program, a soccer-focused athletic program, and intensive wrap-around support services for students and their families.
Fugees is replicating its strategic vision to new schools in other states, with its second school opening in Columbus, Ohio for the 2018 – 2019 school year.

Fugees Academy Columbus will open in Columbus, Ohio in August 2018 and serve 56 co-ed sixth graders, adding one additional grade each year until grades 6-12 are at capacity

Like our flagship school in Clarkston, Georgia, Fugees Academy Columbus model will combine soccer with rigorous academic standards and wraparound services to help meet the needs of refugee children and their families
Fugees Academy – Columbus needs teachers who are innovative, passionate, able to take feedback, and willing to reflect, assess and alter their teaching to best meet the needs of our students.
**Please note that “6th grade” is the age level of the students, NOT the instructional level, which is likely to be significantly lower.

BA required. MA preferred
Valid OH Teaching Certification

About Fugees Academy
The Fugees Academy is an independent, community-based middle and high school emphasizing academic and character development of refugee children. Our student body represents 22 different countries, including Burundi, Iraq, African Central Republic and Burma. The school is in its eighth year, and is SAIS and SACS accredited. It blends creative teaching with academic fundamentals, interwoven with leadership and character building. The Fugees Academy packs a normal K-8 education into three years of middle school so that students are then ready for a college preparatory curriculum in high school.
