Mount Pisgah Christian School (MPCS) is seeking an experienced educator to teach a fulltime load of upper school science courses beginning August 2018. The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, an educational philosophy and Christian worldview consistent with the mission and goals of MPCS, and certification or qualification to teach secondary school science. The ideal candidate is truly an expert in both the field of chemistry and the craft of teaching and the passion for teaching upper level courses, including the AP curriculum in Physics, Chemistry and/or Environmental Science.A strong candidate will be able to design and conduct laboratory activities, teach with an engaging classroom style, and appeal to the learning styles of a diverse and extremely talented student body. He or she must demonstrate proficiency with technology and a willingness to integrate technology into the classroom and laboratory. Importantly, he or she should have the desire and ability to enthusiastically contribute to school life beyond the science classroom, ideally as a coach or in a supportive role in the Arts.
The Upper School Instructor of Broad Field Science will have:
Experience teaching in a Christian independent school, college or university setting
Experience working as part of an academic team and facilitating a collaborative, trusting atmosphere among teaching colleagues
A demonstrated history of being committed to professional development and lifelong learning
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience; ideally 2 years of AP experience
High energy, career ambition and a genuine ability to “connect” with Upper School students
Those eager to serve in a faith-based learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship
