HUMANITIES: Immediate opening for a parental leave substitute
Come teach History with us!
The Jewish Community High School of the Bay needs a professional educator to teach three sections of our freshman world civilizations course. The preferred candidate will have a depth of content knowledge combined with experience teaching middle school or 9th-10th graders.
When you join our innovative humanities department you will:
teach three classes of freshman world history
have time during the school day to prepare great lessons and give students the individual help they need
be supported by an engaged Chair, Learning Specialist, and School Counselor to help you focus on your teaching
work alongside colleagues who will both push you to be a better teacher and welcome your help in improving their teaching
work with supportive administrators who encourage innovative teaching, expect professional growth, and embrace research based pedagogy
be directly involved in creating a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment by differentiating instruction, supporting diverse learners, and implementing a wide-ranging and diverse curriculum
As a pluralistic Jewish high school, JCHS’ students represent the diversity of Jewish practice and identity in the Bay Area. Faculty commitment to the mission of the school is essential, but religious affiliation is not a factor in hiring. We believe our students learn best from a diverse faculty and extended professional community and welcome people of any race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation and marital status to come work with our students.
If this sounds like a community of learners you would like to join, email a cover letter and resume as one PDF document to: email@example.com
About Jewish Community High School of the Bay
The Jewish Community High School of the Bay (JCHS) is a co-educational day school providing a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum in general and Judaic Studies. We are committed to an extensive enrichment program, including the arts and athletics. JCHS serves the San Francisco Bay Community and is open to all Jewish students regardless of prior Jewish educational experience. JCHS is guided by the rhythms of the Jewish calendar, Jewish culture and tradition, and by an inextricable link to the land of Israel. Our goal is to provide our students with the education necessary to gain acceptance into the finest colleges and universities and to engage in life-long Jewish learning. Our wish is to enable our graduates to employ the skills and lessons taught within our walls in their lives within both the Jewish and the wider community.
