The Athletics Director assists with the day-to-day operation and management of the Athletics department. The Athletics Director is an innovative thinker who will assist the Senior Athletics Director in creating an efficient, effective, and nationally recognized Athletics program, with an emphasis on creating leadership, competition and human development opportunities for all Carondelet High School athletes.
She/he demonstrates a deep passion for Athletics and the growth and development of Carondelet athletes in all aspects of their educational lives. Proactively completes tasks and initiatives to assist the Senior Athletics Director in meeting the expectations of a nationally recognized Athletics department.
Assists the Senior Athletics Director in responding, in a timely manner, to issues involving coaches, officials, support staff, student-athletes, parents, etc.
Counsels coaches, parents, and student-athletes through Athletics-related issues.
Facilitates communication with coaches regarding practice schedules, upcoming games, and results of competitions.
Proactively creates and implement Athletics programming including a strength & conditioning program, student-athlete leadership opportunities, internship programs, coach development, and prospective collegiate athlete recruitment tools.
The Athletics Director, in conjunction with the Senior Athletics Director, is expected to be a visible presence at the majority of home Athletics contests.
Assigns Administrator in Charge responsibilities as needed to ensure that there is an administrative presence at the majority of home sporting contests.
Ensures that Carondelet Athletics has a relevant online presence on our website and social media platforms.
Creates revenue-generation from outside organizations to offset costs.
Manages the cheer and dance budget including invoicing, billing, receiving of funds, and submitting payment requests.
Maintains equipment and uniforms.
Supervises Athletics contests, including collection of gate receipts, preparation of rosters and other informational material.
Manages parent volunteers and organizes the Athletics volunteer clearance process in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator.
Secures practice and game facilities, schedule of Athletics games, transportation, events and end-of-season awards.
Maintains the Athletics Department Handbook.
Responds to neighbor complaints and be a positive liaison between Carondelet High School and the local community.
Directs recognition and promotion of student-athletes and the Athletics program.
Assists in the development of dynamic summer sport clinics.
Ensures that academic and Athletics eligibility requirements of all student athletes are met.
Completes all North Coast Section transfer paperwork for incoming and outgoing student-athletes.
Administers travel arrangements, including air travel and hotel rooms, for varsity teams. Facilitates travel arrangements with head coaches and team parents based on the Carondelet High School travel policy.
Ensures that all paperwork required for student-athlete participation in sports is distributed, collected, and submitted to the proper agencies.
Ensures that Carondelet Athletics rosters, highlights, and photos are archived.
Develops and maintains Carondelet High School’s Athletics website, ensuring a user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, online access for stakeholders to obtain adequate and accurate information regarding all sports programs and significant Athletics achievements by alumnae.
Maintains a regular Carondelet Athletics presence on relevant social media forums (facebook, twitter, etc.) and MaxPreps.
Creates and distributes a weekly Athletics newsletter for faculty, staff, coaches, and parents.
Coordinates game management of Carondelet Athletics home contests, including gate management, security, officials, scorekeepers and supervision of spectators.
Reviews and approves coaching timesheets and manages new hire paperwork.
Assists with all Carondelet Athletics scheduling.
Participates with the Athletics Director in third-party scheduling at the Carondelet Athletics Complex.
Leads the Carondelet Athletics Complex site orientation for new Carondelet coaches and all third-party partners on an annual basis.
Supervises student-athletes at the Carondelet Athletics Complex and maintains an administrative presence at the CAC by creating a flex work schedule in conjunction with the Athletics trainer, coaches, and Senior Athletics Director.
Provides oversight of scheduling of Athletics games, practices, events and end-of-season awards, while supporting the Senior Athletics Director with administrative duties.
Inputs, maintains and updates results for all Carondelet Athletics events on the Home Campus software program.
Oversees the inventory and distribution of all uniforms.
Creates and maintains an archive of Athletics records, stories, and photographs.
Manages and executes special projects and initiatives assigned by the Senior Athletics Director.
Participates in the interview process for prospective coaches.
Assumes responsibilities of the Senior Athletics Director when necessary.
3-5 years of related experience in sports management, sports information, business management, media/public relations, and/or journalism.
Coaching at the high school or college level is preferred.
The ability to write for publication (knowledge of AP style and how to compose press releases).
Skillful and knowledgeable in the creation and management of computer websites and social networking for an organization.
Current knowledge of high school athletics and best practice in creating and sustaining a successful athletics program with highly competitive teams.
A solid understanding of women athletes and the secondary school environment.
Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
Adept at establishing and managing productive relationships with students, coaches, faculty, parents, and other schools.
