High Point Academy is an independent coeducational day school. Founded in 1965, the school serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. We are located in a suburban neighborhood, nestled in the foothills of Pasadena, CA.
This is a full-time, salaried faculty appointment for the 2018-19 school year. Position includes health and retirement benefits. The Athletic Director provides comprehensive administrative oversight for the physical education program for grades K-8, and provides oversight for the after-school athletics program, with the goal of creating and nurturing a lifelong love of physical activity within the student body.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive, age-appropriate K-8th grade curriculum that includes proper assessment and evaluation of skills being taught.
Oversee, hire and evaluate PE faculty and coaches.
Teach some sections of PE.
Ensure coaching faculty is up-to-date on protocols regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Ensure coaching faculty actively pursues professional development and utilize best practices in teaching athletic skills.
Maintain athletic facilities. Approve, order and maintain athletic equipment and uniforms. Secure off-sight facilities as necessary.
Coordinate after-school athletics schedule with other schools.
Coordinate transportation for after-school athletic events.
Coordinate with parent volunteers.
Participate in the local network of athletic directors
Promote the Athletic Program and HPA student athletes in the local media
Work collaboratively with other administrators and teachers.
High Point Academy conducts a national background screening and fingerprinting process on job applicants upon acceptance of a contingent offer.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably a secondary degree in a related field.
Demonstrated teaching and/or coaching experience.
Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
Demonstrated experience in hiring and professional development.
