The Rudolf Steiner School seeks a strategic, motivated, and proven Director of Annual Giving to manage and build the organization’s $650,000 annual fund through individual giving and events.
Reporting to the School Administrator and collaborating with the Manager of Special Events and Alumni Relations, The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for increasing support to the Rudolf Steiner School Annual Fund within the parent, alumni, and former parent community. This individual will oversee all aspects of annual giving including face-to-face asks, donor research, volunteer management, donor recognition events (with support from Manager of Special Events), printed and electronic appeals, and production of the Annual Report.
The ideal candidate is outgoing and versatile - a strategic thinker capable of analyzing data trends to set course, and a colorful creative with the ability to design eye-catching e-blasts, newsletters, or other materials needed to engage the community. Create and maintain annual solicitation schedule; track and analyze results, communicate progress, and produce status reports
Develop, draft, edit/proof, and finalize all annual fund solicitations, presentations, marketing materials, web updates and email appeals. Identify key stakeholders to write and/or sign solicitations
Manage all aspects of data in the Raisers Edge; including but not limited to gift entry, generating acknowledgment letters, producing queries, running gift reports, mailing-list exports, and donor action tracking
Produce annual reports for initiators of endowed and directed funds
Collaborate with the Manager of Special Events, Parent Council, and Development Committee to continue growing an active corps of volunteers, keeping an eye out for future candidates to join committees of the Board and/or the Board of Trustees
Manage and mentor a team of Annual Fund Class Agents; conduct solicitation training and monthly check-in meetings. Provide regular reports with updated class giving
Collaborate with Parent Council on fundraising events, giving days, or and other fundraising initiatives
Produce status reports for the Board as requested by the School Administrator
Work with Manager of Special Events and Alumni Relations on a plan to engage and strengthen annual support from alumni
Other responsibilities as assigned by the School Administrator
Qualifications and Requirements
5-7 years relevant experience
Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience with annual giving and conducting face-to-face asks required
Facility with Microsoft Office suite and databases/CRMs required (Raisers Edge experience preferred)
Demonstrate fluency in mail merges and Microsoft Excel
Experience developing and designing e-blasts and/or print materials using Adobe Suite or other design programs preferred
Familiarity with prospect research tools, including RE:NXT and Research Point a plus.
Experience in identifying, training and managing volunteers
The ability to be flexible and proactive, to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Familiarity with Rudolf Steiner School and/or Waldorf Education a plus
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be available to work the annual Fall Fair, which takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving
Experience running a capital campaign a plus
