St. Anselm’s Abbey School is currently accepting applications for a full-time Drama instructor beginning in August 2018. Duties include teaching courses in drama, speech, and acting for both Middle and High School students, in addition to directing three student theatrical productions for the Priory Players: a musical (in collaboration with a music director), a High School play, and a Middle School play. Significant time commitment after school hours (3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on most weekdays, in addition to some time on weekends) is required during much of the year.
Experience teaching aspects of theater, both acting and technical, and directing students at a Middle or High School level
An undergraduate degree, preferably in theater
Willingness to work after school hours and on weekends to prepare for productions
An openness to supporting the mission of Benedictine education
Experience running a scene shop, managing costumes, and training students to manage technical aspects of a production
Experience teaching public speaking
Enthusiasm for promoting the spiritual, personal, and intellectual development of young men
About St. Anselm's Abbey School
St. Anselm's Abbey School is an independent, Catholic, Benedictine school serving academically motivated young men in grades 6 through 12. Founded in 1942 by Benedictine monks, the school is located on the 40-acre grounds of St. Anselm's Abbey in Northeast Washington. St. Anselm's serves approximately 250 students and employs over 50 faculty and staff.
