The Pennington School seeks a full-time Spanish teacher for the Upper School to join our faculty on a leave replacement basis from September to December of 2018. This position includes teaching 5 sections of Spanish from levels 1 to 3.
Teach a range of students in the Upper School Spanish courses from level 1 to 3 following a curriculum guide.
Embracing student-centered teaching practices
Favoring a linguistic communicative approach where permanent interactions promote higher proficiency levels of students.
Work to elicit individual excellence in every student, moving the student toward personal and collective goals in skills, habits of mind, and understanding.
Commitment to working in and fostering The Pennington School community
Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students and colleagues.
A degree in Spanish or related subject area, with at least two years of teaching Spanish as a foreign language experience preferred.
Native or near native fluency proficiency in Spanish.
Knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures preferably from experience living abroad.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English.
Ability to work with a variety of learning styles
Experience integrating technology into the Spanish curriculum.
Experience/willingness to lead at least two extracurricular and/or athletic endeavors
This is a 4-5 month leave replacement position, exempt from overtime, and eligible for all benefits afforded to full-time Pennington School employees, subject to the terms of each plan.
