The Pennington School seeks a full-time French teacher for the Upper School to join our faculty on a leave replacement basis from September of 2018 to January of 2019. This position includes teaching 4 sections of French from levels 1 to 4.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach a range of students in the Upper School French courses from level 1 to 4 following a curriculum guide
Ability to teach a Latin class in the Upper School (preferred but not required)
Embrace student-centered teaching practices
Favor a linguistic communicative approach where permanent interactions promote higher proficiency levels of students
Work to elicit individual excellence in every student, moving the student toward personal and collective goals in skills, habits of mind, and understanding
Commitment to working in and fostering The Pennington School community
Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and industry in interactions with students and colleagues
A degree in French or related subject area, with at least two years experience teaching French as a foreign language
Native or near-native fluency proficiency in French
Knowledge of French-speaking cultures, preferably from experience living abroad
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English
Ability to work with a variety of learning styles
Experience integrating technology into the French curriculum
Experience/willingness to lead at least two extracurricular and/or athletic endeavors
This is a 4-5 month leave replacement position, exempt from overtime, and eligible for all benefits afforded to full-time Pennington School employees, subject to the terms of each plan.
