The Content and Social Media Manager will serve as the lead writer and content generator supporting school events and activities to promote admissions and fundraising goals as well as keep our Castilleja community such as parents, alumnae, and employees informed and engaged. This role will work for the Director of Communications and Marketing in the Advancement Department at Castilleja School.
The Advancement Department at Castilleja School is responsible for securing immediate and long-term funding for the school’s priorities, and for establishing, cultivating, and maintaining meaningful relationships with our constituents in the local community and throughout the world through development initiatives, communications, alumnae relations, and events.
The Content and Social Media Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of content across multiple channels including social media, printed publications, and press releases. A prolific writer, a master communicator, and an expert at cross-functional relationships is essential to succeed in this role. In addition, the Content and Social Media Manager will develop the strategy and calendar for content as well as capture photography and video when applicable. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and superior project management skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Writer and Print Editor
General staff writer for Advancement including support for Development and Events
Generate ideas and create content for social media posts and Castilleja.org website
Create, edit, and maintain the tone of voice for all Head of School’s correspondence
Manage, write, and edit weekly CastiNews online newsletter
Pitch ideas, write, and edit feature articles for bi-annual magazine, Full Circle, and yearly Annual Report
Collaborate with the Community Relations team on the creation of direct mail, ads, and other marketing materials to ensure consistent tone of voice and messaging
Assist in the creation of Admissions materials including the Viewbook copy, and summer camp marketing materials
Craft press releases
Develop email communications to inform and engage parents, faculty, and staff
Responsible for proofreading, including fact checking, spelling, grammar, writing style, page design, and photos
Responsible for knowing, implementing, and maintaining a log of Castilleja-specific conventions
Responsible for knowing and implementing style, usage, and grammar rules consistent with the CMS
Social Media Management
Develop a social media strategy that captures and showcases the values of Castilleja
Develop, update, and maintain a school-wide calendar for social media by collaborating with all teachers, organizations, teams, and groups that are part of the Castilleja School experience
Generate fresh and compelling ideas for posts
Manage and maintain the social media community by responding and monitoring comments when necessary
Create and manage a strategy for generating and maintaining followers
Have knowledge of and be able to implement social media advertising strategies
Photography and Videography Management
Auditing school calendar and list serves to insure coverage of important stories
Brainstorm and collaborate on ways to use photography and video to push fundraising, admissions, and other priorities of the school
Oversee submissions process from community for candids and impromptu events
Project manage and attend photo and video shoots
