Phillips Brooks School (PBS) announces a search for a full-time Co-Teacher beginning in August 2018. This person will join a growth-oriented and collaborative learning community committed to the school’s mission and core values of kindness, courage, community, and love of learning.
? Dive into a school that values process learning, collaborative teaching, academic engagement, projects, and reflection.
? Support and inspire students to bring their best selves to the classroom and beyond
? Work alongside two mentor teachers to collaborate, develop, and present differentiated
lessons across all content areas with likelihood to departmentalize subject matter. The triad will share leadership and decision-making to best support student learning and engagement.
? Communicate with parents about student progress and growth areas.
? Expand your toolbox of innovative teaching techniques through generous professional
development and on-the-ground training.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to grow as an educator with the ultimate goal of pursuing a lead teaching position. Within this model, the candidate will experience all elements of being a teacher with the added supports of mentorship and collaboration. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, flexibility, a nurturing teachingstyle, and a sense of humor. Training in Responsive Classroom and similar approaches to social-emotional learning is preferred.
The position requires an undergraduate degree and experience working with children. Preferred qualifications include specific teaching in a K-5 setting, a credential and/or master’s degree in elementary education or an education related field.
