Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national and international boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125 acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy seeks an HR coordinator to provide pivotal administrative support to the human resources and legal risk departments, act as an academy receptionist, and serve as an assistant to the Chief Human Resources Officer. This position will interface with faculty and staff.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Answer Milton’s main telephone line, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and greet visitors to the Human Resources and Business Office suite.
Coordinate and accurately track HR functions such as annual personnel training, new employee onboarding and orientation, background checks, compensation letters and job postings.
Support the implementation and maintenance of Milton’s policy management program; including drafting policies and procedures at the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer and Counsel and Compliance Manager.
Maintain up to date and accurate personnel files.
Record minutes for the retirement plan committee and the audit and risk committee.
Perform basic administrative functions for the Chief Human Resources Officer including calendar management, answering phones, arranging travel, reserving meeting rooms, and other office tasks.
Assist with events, including human resources events, wellness events, and other events organized at the request of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Oversee the human resources and business office suite’s operation: sort mail into mail boxes, organize the supply room, maintain supply inventories, ensure equipment is in good working order, and enter work orders.
Coordinate the administrative aspects for all overnight school trips according to Milton’s trip policy and procedures.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree and have at least five years of administrative experience. Preferred candidates will have some experience in human resources or school environment.
Other required experience and abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast paced work environment. Ability to meet deadlines. Must be receptive to supervision and professional development. Extensive experience using Microsoft Office and Google suite of apps. Must understand issues of confidentiality.
