Responsibilities: Forest Ridge High School is an independent all-girls high school in the Catholic tradition with a rigorous academic curriculum. The High School faculty has taken pride in designing an integrated, global curriculum as a replacement for the more traditional IB or AP. Applicants should understand and support the all-girls identity of the school and have a particular passion for ensuring girls believe in themselves.
Subject Specific Responsibilities: Teaching includes classroom instruction, with an emphasis on building oral proficiency, promoting students’ ability to read and write in the language, and exploring the culture and history of the Spanish-speaking world; actively participate in the work of the Languages Department on curriculum development and pedagogy including scope and sequence in collaboration with teachers across the middle school and high school.
Other duties include: Ongoing support of the students through individual help sessions and collaborating with department members and other faculty; serving as leader to a small Advisory group and assuming responsibility for at least one other extracurricular activity or faculty committee. All teachers are expected to attend grade level, faculty, and school meetings and strive to integrate the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools into their interactions with students, colleagues and the greater community.
Qualifications: An ideal candidate will have a BA in a relevant subject area, an MA and 3-5 years of teaching experience. Teaching a variety of Spanish courses to high school students is a plus. As Forest Ridge is a one-to-one laptop school, experience with technology is also preferred.
