Mark Day School seeks a collaborative and self-motivated support teacher to assist lead teachers with science instruction K-8. The ideal candidate would have a background and interest in science education, bring some prior classroom experience, have a positive, encouraging demeanor with children of all ages, and possess excellent skills with collaboration, flexibility and communication. Candidates should also be able to work with small groups of students, teach occasional lessons, and provide supervision of students both in the classroom and at recess. The job has some flexibility of days, and may require occasional meetings after school.
Background and interest in science and science education
Comfort with technology, including google apps such as gmail and google calendar, as well as facility with learning and using technology-based tools for learning
Relevant experience working with children in a classroom setting
Strong organization, collaboration and communication skills
Opportunities and Responsibilities:
15hrs./week support with the 7th and 8th grade science program lead teacher through lab support with students, setup and routine tasks
10hrs./week support to teachers in K-6 to assist with science activity set-up and management
Work with a wide variety of teachers and students in diverse science activities across the curriculum
Join science-based field trips
Occasionally teach small group lessons or co-teach classes with lead teachers
Provide support with clerical items and grading

In spring 2016 the school broke ground on a transformative campus project that includes renovation of the quad and amphitheater at the heart of the campus and the construction of a new Learning Commons and Creativity Lab.
