The Shipley School
The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 835 students in grades Pre-K through 12. Located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, the school is committed to educational excellence and dedicated to developing in each student a love of learning and a compassionate participation in the world. The Upper School has 378 students in grades 9-12, and a faculty of 60.
The Shipley Upper School seeks an experienced high school Spanish teacher. The candidate will have experience teaching Spanish as a second language and a clear educational philosophy consistent with the mission of the school.
The teacher reports to his or her Division Head and PK-12 Modern Language Chair
Works closely with the US Modern Language department and the PK-12 Modern Language Chair
Creates a supportive atmosphere and rigorous academic program in which all students will thrive
Advises students and attends faculty meetings
Provides positive and frequent communication with faculty, administration and families
Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level
Degree in the language preferred
Fluency in English is requisite
Should possess a creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching and learning
Must have knowledge of ACTFL Standards and the most current practices in the teaching of modern language
Fluency in other languages, particularly French is a plus
