The Baldwin School is seeking an experienced educator to join our Computer Science department, beginning in August 2018. We are looking for a creative and collaborative teacher who will contribute to the growth and innovation of our Computer Science curriculum in the Middle and Upper Schools. Our program is a hands-on, project-based program that combines making with traditional computer science through our DREAM Lab® program. The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and implementing a project-based curriculum. The Computer Science and Engineering Teacher will teach courses in the Upper School, and will have primary responsibility for developing curriculum and courses in the Upper School. He/she will also teach one course in the Middle School, as needed (there is a possibility that a second MS course may be added). In addition, he/ she will contribute to the life of the school through advising, clubs and chaperoning.
The successful candidate will have a Computer Science or other related STEM degree. Advanced degrees are preferred, however, applicable industry experience may be considered. He/ she will be proficient in at least one programming language and be comfortable developing and working in the hands-on aspects of the program, including 3D printing, laser cutting and soft circuit work. This teacher should create enthusiasm for Computer Science and Engineering as a field of study. In addition, qualified applicants will have:
-1-3 years teaching experience, 3-5 preferred
-Commitment to an all-girls' environment and to encouraging girls to pursue STEM
-Strong communication skills
-Ability to collaborate effectively with others
