Good Shepherd Episcopal School seeks an enthusiastic individual to join a collaborative team environment as an Associate Teacher in the Early Childhood division. The purpose of this position is to gain classroom experience while enriching, enhancing, and reinforcing the emerging reading, writing, and mathematical skills of students.
Responsibilities for the Early Childhood Associate are to include, but are not limited to, the following: serve as a second teacher in pre-kindergarten, prepare for and conduct small group lessons, and work in small groups and 1:1 with students. He or she will collaborate with grade level teams to support the implementation of the Good Shepherd Early Childhood curriculum – a developmentally appropriate, rigorous, “whole-child” approach - and should have the ability to embrace and implement technology in instruction. The Associate will apply consistent classroom management strategies to support an orderly classroom and fulfill assigned extra duties which may include carpool and/or the lunchroom.
The ideal candidate for this position should hold a B.A. or B.S. degree from a four-year college or university, a teacher certification, and a strong interest in the literacy and education of young children. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive and enthusiastic personality, and a strong command of the English language (grammar, vocabulary, spelling), as well as the ability to work well as part of a team. The candidate should have a knowledge of educational technology tools including, but not limited to, iPads and Microsoft Office.
