During the past 17 years, Lake Forest Academy has secured more than $95 million in Academy Fund dollars, endowment gifts and capital improvement funds. Nine new structures were underwritten during the $69 million Campaign for LFA. The $9 million donor-funded Student Union opened in Fall 2016 and has become a new campus hub. The Academy has embarked on its next major fund raising initiative: a three-year program designed to invest in student access to LFA and an investment in LFA’s first-rate faculty. LFA is seeking a professional Advancement Officer who will strengthen parent relationships with the school and help increase fund raising revenue from families.
Director of Parent Relations & Giving
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Parent Relations & Giving coordinates and manages philanthropy-generation efforts and activities designed to engage current families in the life of Lake Forest Academy.
Fund raising efforts include direct mail appeals, electronic/social media appeals and phonathons utilizing a network of parent volunteers and emphasizing peer-to-peer solicitation. These efforts are supported by the Annual Giving team.
The Director maintains a portfolio of parent prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation. He/she works collaboratively with other LFA members of the major gifts team including Head of School, VP of Advancement, Director of Individual Philanthropy and Director of Alumni Engagement.
The Director also provides input regarding the cultivation and solicitation of alumni parents and grandparents for participation in annual and multi-year campaigns.
Annual Parent events include Opening Weekend, Parents Weekend, the Parents Association’s Faculty-Staff Appreciation Dinner, and the Spring Gala.
The Director serves as the primary school liaison to the LFA Parents Association and the Parents Association Board.
He or she is supported by the Annual Giving staff, Prospect Researcher as well as the Advancement Events Coordinator.
Builds program in cooperation with the VP that culminates in significant gains in parent ownership for the Academy’s success, demonstrated via Academy Fund donor participation, and dollars raised and event attendance;
Manages and refines the network of parent volunteers that is crucial to the peer-to-peer solicitations that are the basis of the Parents Division of the Academy Fund (FY18 Goal of $475,000 in unrestricted funds);
Works with the Dean of Students office in the planning and execution of Opening Weekend, held at the start of each school year;
Works with the Dean of Students Office and Athletic Director in planning and implementing Parents Weekend;
Works with the Parents Association to plan and implement the Spring Gala, an annual event that raises more than $500,000 for a specific project;
Works with the Parents Association and Dean of Communications to improve communication with families of current students;
Helps maintain engagement of LFA’s alumni parents in the Academy as well as their participation in annual giving;
Coordinates outreach to grandparents of current students;
Provides support and guidance to other members of the Advancement team;
And fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement.
