CSA is seeking an energetic Music Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year to work as part of the Primary School team teaching music, supporting music initiatives, and taking an instrumental role in the artistic program. The Music Teacher reports directly to the Director of the Primary school and work closely with the Primary School team. Primary responsibilities will include interacting with children and parents around school-wide performances, exhibitions, and collaborating with the instructional team.
A willingness to work collaboratively with CSA faculty and families;
A willingness to be actively engaged in the extracurricular and extended learning experiences;
Works with instructional staff to design 2 whole-school performances each school year, that may include the Winter and Spring concerts;
Works with parents to engage in 2 musical workshops and/or sessions each school year;
Plan guest visitors and/or performers to attend the school-wide Community Meeting once per month;
Possesses the ability to be innovative in creating learning experiences for young children that will activate creativity, cooperation, and a playful environment;
Monitor Before or After School duty, as assigned periodically throughout the school year;
Responsible for teaching music education to students in the Primary School and leads the staff of the Primary School in the improvement and appreciation of music instruction;
Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing of instruments and listening;
Develop an incentive music program for outstanding progress and performers;
Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music to students;
Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students
Communicates with parents and colleagues on individual student’s progress
Selects appropriate music, books and instructional aids to enhance learning and orders musical instruments and instructional supplies as necessary.
Cooperation with faculty and staff in providing musical programs for school-wide events, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.
Creative, engaging, active, innovative candidates that have a deep interest in supporting learners in various environments.

Physical and Emotional Demands: Work is active; it may require long periods of standing and walking, as well as occasional sitting, reaching at or above shoulder height, twisting, pushing/pulling and stooping/bending/lifting to perform activities with students and staff; must be able to work in an open-concept environment where noise and other activities may at times interfere with concentration. Must be able to alter plans/routines when unexpected, stressful situations and multiple interruptions occur without projecting stress/frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.
CSA, as a condition of employment, requires a comprehensive background check, including a drug-screening, prior to hiring. CSA is a drug-free environment, and random drug-screenings may be required of all employees after hiring.
