All Saints’ Episcopal School is currently seeking a dynamic, energetic, and experienced Upper School English teacher for the 2018 – 2019 school year. The ideal candidate has at least five years’ experience teaching all levels of upper school English and has independent school experience. He or she will be passionate about classroom teaching, have experience with curriculum development, and be eager to establish meaningful relationships with students. The candidate must have experience teaching various levels and courses within the English discipline, have a good understanding of English best practices, and be able to provide a positive student centered learning environment.
Qualifications: The candidate should have at least five years of experience teaching 9-12 English at an independent school. Bachelor’s degree in English required, master’s degree or higher is preferred.
Teach up to six sections of English on a modular “A/B” schedule.
Have broad knowledge of literature, including contemporary and canonical works.
Model and teach critical thinking skills
Model and teach composition and writing in a student-centered learning environment.
Offer daily tutoring from 7:45 -8:45 am
Attend all faculty and/or staff meetings required by your division and department.
Participate in the Upper School Advisory Program
Maintain constructive communication with parents throughout the year, as well as during parent/teacher conferences.
Position will report to the Upper School Division Head and English Department Chair, and has a start date of August 1, 2018
