Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Leadership Gifts Officer to begin in July 2018. Through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum, Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility, and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Leadership Gifts Officer will report to the Director of Development and will represent Calvert School while establishing and managing effective relationships with prospective donors. In this role the gifts officer will develop, maintain, and implement strategies for prospects that will lead to successful solicitations of $10,000 or more annually.
The Leadership Gift Officer will be responsible for the following:
Implement a leadership gifts program that will serve the School’s current and future needs.
Manage a mixed portfolio of approximately 100-150 prospective leadership donors.
Draft gift proposals and stewardship reports for donors.
Document gift agreements for major and planned gifts. Utilize the prospect data systems for prospect management.
Work closely with the Director of Development and collaborate with development colleagues on comprehensive strategies for assigned prospects.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with two to four years of fundraising experience and an understanding of major gift strategies and experience in soliciting prospects and donors. Candidates must have excellent writing and interpersonal skills and must have the ability to work with independence in dealing with the diverse elements of the academic environment. This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism. Candidates must be able and willing to travel extensively and will be required to work evenings and weekend hours as needed. Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or a similar fundraising software would be a plus.
