Children’s Day School (CDS) is a co-educational preschool through eighth grade serving over 474 students in the Mission Dolores neighborhood of San Francisco. We are seeking an experienced, talented, and energetic Middle School Athletic Director for the 2018-2019 school year. The individual will report to the Middle School Director and is responsible for leading the Middle School Athletic Department. The Athletic Director will develop and maintain athletic policies and procedures, and promote the values of physical fitness, athleticism and good sportspersonship through the school’s athletic program. The Athletic Director supervises all coaching staff and works with the physical education department.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualities:
Hire, supervise, direct, evaluate and promote the professional development of all coaching staff
Represent the school while attending five league meetings a year, interact with other athletic directors and coaches from the league and represent CDS’ values
Manage and maintain the athletic handbook and mission statement,
Oversee all communication about athletic program and vision with the school community
Manage and maintain the school’s athletics webpage including photos, coach bios, game schedules and gym locations
Create game and practice schedules for all sports to ensure balance and positive competition while coordinating with academic school calendars
Manage the safety of students, coaches and maintenance of any gym space
Host home games: set-up and clean-up, running clock and keeping scorebook
Work with league referee assignor and maintain open communication with officials
Organize all parent volunteer drivers to away games
Prepare and oversee the annual budget for the athletic program including uniforms, gym fees, equipment, referees, league dues and banquet
Coach at least two teams per year
Teach 3 sections of Physical Education in grades 5-8
