Upper York School, a small co-educational, private day school for Grades 9 – 12 is seeking a Principal for September 2018. A newly founded School, Upper York has had a successful inaugural year and is looking to continued growth and innovation. Located in Markham, Ontario, Upper York School provides small classes for its students with individual attention to domestic and international students and is committed to delivering the Ontario mandated Ministry of Education curriculum.
Upper York School offers a diverse student-centred curriculum focusing on the refinement of academic skills, and on the preparation of students for post-secondary success. Courses are designed so that students will understand the theoretical principles, practical applications, and substantive content of each given curriculum. Academic excellence and language communication skills are essential components and students new to Canada are well served with our ESL programs.
Reporting to the Owner, the successful candidate for this full time position will possess an undergraduate degree and teaching qualifications and have experience in day to day operational school management. A post-graduate degree is an asset. A strong communicator with an entrepreneurial spirit, with the capability of growing and building a team, the Principal will enable teachers to deliver on the school’s philosophy. The Principal will be responsible for the leadership of the academic program of the school and will focus on delivering the strategic initiatives. International student recruitment and ESL programming experience is an asset.
