Gill St. Bernard’s School, an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory day school for students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, located in Gladstone, New Jersey, announces a search for a School Counselor beginning on or about July 1, 2018. The School Counselor, working with the faculty and administrators, will address the social-emotional needs of the students. He/she will serve as a vital contact person and resource for teachers and parents.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide short-term individual counseling in order to assess the nature of any concerns and offer appropriate resources to students and families. Students who need regular counseling will be referred to an outside professional.
Participate in divisional student support meetings as scheduled to discuss individual students and to identify strategies to address their situation.
Provide support to classroom teachers, deans, and administrators regarding students facing social and emotional issues.
Work collaboratively with the learning specialist to assist students with special needs.
Work with the Division Directors and Dean of Student Life to create appropriate programs for students.
Collaborate with Upper School Office of Student Life to enhance the advisory program.
Participate in the life of the School community as well as other all school initiatives.
Applicants should be a licensed professional with an advanced degree in school psychology or a licensed mental health professional. Previous experience in a school setting is required. Will also consider part time applicants.
