Head-Royce School is seeking a creative, energetic, and innovative Middle School Multi-Media Arts Teacher to teach classes such as Film-making and Songwriting to 6-8th grade students. We seek to develop MS artists by establishing an appropriate and engaging learning environment and offering varied learning activities. Our educational philosophy focuses on preparing students for the skills necessary to succeed as global citizens in the 21st century. Our faculty create classrooms that encourage students to participate in experiential learning, take risks, view the world through multiple lenses, utilize innovative tools, and demonstrate proficiencies through a range of assessments that include real-world problems and performances. Head-Royce teachers participate beyond the classroom as advisors, club leaders, and committee members. The School seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, and an understanding of adolescents.
Expertise in Digital and/or Multi-media art (Graphics, video, film, audio)
Collaborative, collegial, flexible colleague
Clear communicator with students, colleagues and parents.
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches as well as different styles and types of assessment
Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts
Knowledge of appropriate use of technology to enhance the learning experience
3-5 years experience teaching Art in a Middle School Setting
Demonstrated genuine fondness for working with students at this specific age level
Additional Qualifications we hope to find, but not required:
Advanced degrees/certification in Education or in the Visual/Performing Arts
Experience in digital song-writing
