St. James' Episcopal School is a diverse community of learners. With over 370 students and 70 faculty, St. James' services students from Preschool-Sixth Grade.
Our preschool is in need some helping hands! Separated by one city block, the preschool is housed in a separate location from the elementary school, and you will be greeted daily by a kind and friendly staff of 14, along with 60 students, ages 2 1/2 to 5 years, and their engaging parents, some of whom serve as volunteers for extra support!
Though we are best known for our traditional educational approaches, we also believe that children should have the opportunity to construct meaning as they assimilate knowledge. Rather than merely providing rote learning in our classrooms, we encourage our teachers to stretch the children's ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate what they learn; to apply their learning to new situations; and to present confidently and in a variety of formats what they have learned.
The qualified applicant will have a minimum of 24 ECE units and at least three years of preschool teaching experience. He or she will be active in the classroom and work with other teachers on every aspect of the day, engaging with the children as they explore their learning environments. The qualified candidate will be there to guide children's curiosity and encourage learning through play.
Must be avialable upon short notice and work a minimum of 6-8 hours each day called. The basic schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with an unpaid half hour lunch, although exact hours may vary and overtime may be necessary.
