The Valley School of Ligonier is seeking a Technology Teacher (grades 5-9) for the 2018-2019 school year.
Valley School of Ligonier is accepting applications for the position of Middle School Technology teacher beginning with the 2018-19 school year. Valley School has an ever-growing technology program that begins in kindergarten, and expands through 9th grade. Elementary students learn robotics, computer and programming skills, as well as problem-solving skills essential to a STEM curriculum. Middle school students deepen their passion for technology through elective classes that included the programming languages of Python, configuring and programming Arduino boards, 3-D modeling, photography and photo editing, and business management. Successful candidates will need experience with teaching programming languages and skills, STEM education programs and related hardware, and ability to support Apple-based products, including iPads, desktops and laptops.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach middle school computer class and technology-related electives for grades 5-9
Maintain and inventory upper school iPad fleet
Contribute to the growth and development of the school’s technology and STEM programs
Collaborate with faculty and elementary technology teacher to provide professional development and to integrate and support technology in the classroom
Attend faculty meetings and fulfill other faculty obligations
Participate in school-related conferences, training, and committee work
Teaching Certification (Middle school and or BCIT preferred)
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
1-2 years teaching experience in a classroom setting
Ability to organize and inventory
Passion for working and engaging with energetic Middle Schoolers
Desire to work with collaborative and dedicated colleagues
