Trevor is seeking a full-time Middle School History teacher and advisor beginning with the 2018-2019 academic year.
Responsibilities include planning and teaching 7th Grade History to the entire grade. The curriculum encompasses classical Greece and ancient Rome. Students will have studied ancient river civilizations as 6th graders and study the medieval world as 8th graders. Important to the role of a middle school teacher is serving as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 middle school students. Responsibilities of the advisor include individual meetings with advisees, running advisory group meetings, and functioning as the primary school contact for those students’ families, including at family conferences.
Masters degree preferred
Three of more years of full-time experience teaching History
Passion for the subject matter
Incorporation of reading and writing instruction within the context of a history curriculum
Experience with inquiry-based learning
Varied methods of assessing student learning and providing effective feedback
A strong interest in working with middle school students in a collaborative environment
Successful integration of technology into the curriculum
Ability to teach to range of learning styles and be comfortable with differentiated instruction
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and their families
Interest in professional growth and school wide initiatives
