St. James' Episcopal School is a diverse, joyful, and inclusive community of learners. With a focus on academic excellence and attention to the needs of each child, we strive to instill in our students intellectual curiosity, compassion for others, and respect for all of God's creation. We are a preschool thru sixth grade, with a student body of 370 students and a faculty of 70.
In our lower school, teachers use whole-class instruction, small-group lessons, and individual instruction depending on content and the understanding of the subject matter at hand. Additionally, our curriculum and core beliefs describe the many ways we encourage children to be the best they can be and how we integrate subjects in meaningful ways. Additionally, technology integration contributes to the success of our academic program, and we use current tools like walltalkers, interactive projectors, Chromebooks, iPads, and computers to bring greater access to information and to assist students in organizing, creating, and presenting what they have learned in a variety of formats.
