Christchurch School is seeking candidates for its intern program for the 2018-2019 school year.This one-year position allows aspiring independent schoo7 educators to gain experience in the classroom by subbing or (depending on qualifications, team-teaching); in co-curriculars through coaching, and in dormitory supervision by being a member of a dormitory duty team.Interns may complete a portfolio during their year which will showcase acquired skills including lesson-planning, assessment design and educational philosophy.Christchurch interns participate in the full life of our school and in doing so develop the practice and competency to help in securing a full-time position.Interns have the opportunity to learn these skills at a school committed to progressive education with a unique and forward-thinking curriculum which focuses on engaged, global citizens.Interns will receive housing, meals, benefits, and a stipend.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in an academic field as well as athletic experience and should have interest in teaching students with a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels. Finally, candidates should be realistic and excited about the challenges and rewards of teaching in a boarding school that makes connections between disciplines.

We are forty-five minutes from Williamsburg (home of the College of William and Mary), and one hour from both Richmond and the Hampton Roads area. With a student population of 200 and a teaching faculty of 30, the atmosphere on campus is collegial, friendly, personal, and above all, community-oriented.
70% of faculty members and their families live on campus, where housing includes utilities. Faculty families are welcome for all regular meals when school is in session. Resident and non-resident members of the faculty participate in the full life of the school-from morning assembly and chapel to classroom and after-school activities, athletics, residential life oversight and weekend activities, as well as special events and awards ceremonies.
The standard load carried by faculty members is 4 classes, 2 co-curricular seasons, and rotating dorm duty. All positions include competitive salary commensurate with experience and education, as well as benefits (major medical insurance, dental, and vision, TIAA-CREF matching, disability insurance, life insurance, meals, and professional development) and may include housing and utilities.
