St. Ignatius Science Department Mission Statement
The Science department’s mission is to teach students the scientific method so they can understand modern scientific descriptions of the universe and come to objective conclusions about the natural world. Like all members of the SI community, we aim to educate the whole person, emphasizing the academic, co-curricular and spiritual development of our students.
A successful candidate will:
foster student curiosity and scientific literacy;
have a Bachelor’s degree and secondary teaching credential or Master’s degree in the field;
pursue best practices in science education, utilizing appropriate educational technology;
be open to making significant contributions to the larger co-curricular and Campus Ministry areas of the school;
have previous teaching experience;
possess a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
thrive in a collaborative, dynamic and faithful learning community to develop curricula, lessons and assessments.
