The Allen-Stevenson School seeks Learning Specialist for grades 4-6 for the 2018-2019 school year. This position will report to the Director of Learning Resources. Preference will be given to candidates who have:
Academic training in special education and/or learning differences.
Experience with a range of Ed-Tech strategies to promote learning.
Understanding of learning styles and differentiated instruction.
Skill at managing multi-faceted work within a supportive learning community.
Teaching study skills, reading and writing classes to grades 4-5.
Teaching a section of grade 4 Mathematics.
Push-in model to support English, History, Mathematics and Science content areas.
Participate on grade level teaching teams.
Assess and track student progress; provide students with accommodations, as needed.
Work closely with other members of the learning support team and Division Head.
Review evaluations and recommendations.
Coordinate learning plans.
Maintain active communication with students' families and outside support regarding students' progress, challenges and learning needs.
Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
Master’s degree in education, special education or a closely related field is preferred.
