Overview: The Randolph School is an independent, not-for-profit pre-K to 5th grade school, located 70 miles north of New York City, with approximately 70 students and 14 staff members. Randolph School has been a model of hands-on, progressive education for over 50 years. Since its inception in 1963, the Randolph School has been committed to whole-child development through project-based learning that incorporates children's interests along with a focus on social and emotional growth.
Job Summary: The Director (who is also a co-administrator) works in collaboration with the Administrative Committee as a collective decision-making group having the authority to make budget, personnel, building, admissions and development decisions.
S/he is the educational and administrative leader of the school, and is responsible for:
leading the teachers in providing excellent learning experiences
supporting, guiding, inspiring, and evaluating teachers and staff
ensuring fiscal stability and growth of the school
developing and encouraging a communal atmosphere among families and faculty
Manage the upkeep of the grounds and buildings, including technology and infrastructure
Responsibilities are to:
Guide and oversee the educational program in keeping with the school’s mission.
Support the teaching staff through leadership and mentoring of new teachers.
Be accessible to parents and work closely with the co-chairs of the Parent Group.
Spearhead community outreach that includes admissions, alumni relations, marketing, and development efforts.
Meet regularly with the Board of Trustees, collaborating in the creation and implementation of short- and long-term goals for the school.
Serve on Board committees, and report on the status of the school to the Board.
