Regents School of Austin has an opening for a high school Spanish instructor for the 2018-2019 academic year. Main duties are teaching Spanish 1,2,3 & 4 and actively participating with the School of Rhetoric faculty in creating a healthy school culture for students, parents, and faculty.
Candidates should be experienced in teaching the Spanish at least through fourth year level; wider command is preferred, and should be a developmental desire of the candidate. Regents Humanities department includes History, Literature, Theology, Apologetics, Rhetoric, Spanish, French, and Latin courses, and deliberately avoids narrow specialization among faculty. Special consideration will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses outside of Spanish. Qualified candidates will have at least a bachelor’s degree in Spanish (other degrees will be considered with Spanish teaching experience), three years of relevant classroom experience, and Christian maturity that demonstrates a desire and capacity to create a healthy classroom environment and develop a lifetime commitment to learning in a wide range of students. The ability to teach through student discussions and extensive researched writing assignments and provide timely and instructive evaluation is vital.
The successful candidate will have high self-understanding, interpersonal communication, self organization, and motivation to excel. Candidates should possess good judgment in handling confidential information. This position will regularly interact with students, parents, faculty, and administrators and requires strong interpersonal competency and the ability to build trust and rapport.
