Job description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who loves children, values the unique contributions of each child in our school community, and is able to form partnerships with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support an effective educational and athletic program for our students. Applicants should hold a B.A./B.S. degree or higher with significant coursework in physical education, health, and wellness; a teaching credential is preferred; have experience in a TK-8 school; be self-motivated and creative, but also able to take direction and collaborate with others. Three to five years teaching experience, preferably at an independent school, is highly preferable. In addition to teaching physical education classes, all faculty share in daily supervision duties at the school. Strong interpersonal skills, pedagogical expertise, a growth mindset, the ability to integrate into our school culture, a good sense of humor, and flexibility are essential.
Assessing students and differentiating instruction within a given class level is highly desirable. The applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong background in current best practices in education and effectively apply these to her/his teaching. Strong communication skills with parents and students and the ability to collaborate with other members of the faculty are a must. Creating a warm, engaging classroom environment are vitally important parts of our program. Training in our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program is required and provided.

In order to achieve full-time status, this position will include either Athletic Director duties or two seasons of coaching. This full-time position does include benefits. Hours are minimally 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30 although team planning meetings may require additional time. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year as well.
