Asheville School is currently accepting applications for the position of Accounts Payable Supervisor in our Business Office. The position is full-time, Monday throughFriday during regular business hours. Ideal start date is between May 15 and June 1.
A successful candidate will be comfortable working independently as well as on a team. The person in this role works with all of the members of our school community, which includes students, their families, faculty, staff, and administration.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and well-organized, with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to multi-task.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to look at situations with an analytical eye are a must.
A successful candidate will also be able to leverage technology to streamline workflow, enhance work quality, and help the office run more efficiently.
In the Business Office, the A/P Supervisor performs the following functions:
Processes payment requests, tracks cash requirements, and arranges payments
Oversees filing of payables-related paperwork and digital files
Manages vendors, including credit applications and vendor list
Oversees the school’s credit card purchasing program, including processing monthly reports
Manages the school’s sales and use tax compliance
Manages billing of student and employee accounts for miscellaneous charges
Manages petty cash and weekly cash needs of various departments and dormitories
Manages student allowance program
Communicates by email and phone with families related to Student Billing
Communicates with employees related to General Ledger activity
Ensures proper capitalization of assets
Manages the distribution of Form 1099 at year-end
Supports the Comptroller in annual financial statement audit
Assists with ad hoc projects as necessary

A qualified candidate will possess at least a two-yeardegree in business or accounting and/orequivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related experience is a plus.
This position involves accrual accounting and double-entry bookkeeping, so familiarity with accounting processes and procedures is essential. Proficiency with the MS Office suite is required. Our back-office systems run on Blackbaud software, so experience with the Financial Edge general ledger accounting package and the Student Billing module would be advantageous.
