The Pingry School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging Upper SchoolFinancial Literacy teacher to join a diverse academic community. The ideal candidate is committed to guiding young people as they construct their understanding of finance in a student-centered classroom environment. This educator is a collaborator with an appreciation for the teachable moment, when moral and ethical questions arise in and out of the classroom. With robust interpersonal skills, the selected candidate has a real desire to contribute to the school community by sharing their passions and through additional efforts such as advising students, coaching teams, directing clubs, or supervising activities.
The financial literacy teacher would be responsible for teaching one or two financial literacy classes, serving as community liaison for our credit union team, advising our entrepreneurship club, substitute teaching as needed, and coaching athletic teams.

Required qualifications include: bachelor’s degree (ideally in business or economics), knowledge of disciplinary core ideas, experience teaching finance, fluency with financial analysis and management, strong background in real-life experiences and place-based learning opportunities, capacity to incorporate independent and cooperative group learning experiences during the study of financial markets and decision making, dedication to integrating global and ethical issues with the study of modern business, enthusiasm for developing students’ personal finance acumen, and commitment to working cooperatively with other faculty to maintain a strong program. In addition to honor and character, zest for intellectual engagement, and appreciation for stewardship and sustainability, especially important is the candidate’s ease with diverse constituencies and demonstrated commitment to an inclusive school community.

Founded in 1861, The Pingry School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.
