Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a Lower School (PK-4) Homeroom Co-Teacher at its Bethesda, MD campus. The grade level to be taught during SY18-19 has not yet been determined.
The Homeroom Co-Teacher shares a classroom of up to 24 students with another co-teacher who holds equal responsibility for the education and welfare of all students, including lesson planning, instructional delivery, classroom management, development of classroom routines and protocols, and parent communications. Applicants must have a keen understanding of the developmental needs of young students, possess a willingness to work independently, flexibly, and collaboratively with other disciplines, and actively support the Quaker philosophy that underlies the School. The ideal candidate should also be committed to serving on various committees that support the mission of the School.
A minimum of five years of teaching experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field are required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
