Brookfield Academy, a private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a full-time Assistant Head of Middle School for the 2018-19 school year. The Assistant Head of Middle School will handle a variety of responsibilities along with some classroom teaching during the school year and will report to the Middle School Head. The Assistant Head of Middle School will touch on many aspects of the Middle School operations and program.
The ideal candidate should have an advanced degree, successful teaching and administrative experience at the Middle School level. Some responsibilities will include:
Working in conjunction with Middle School Head to learn and understand the position
Understanding the scheduling process (summer training)
Understanding the nature of a Middle School student (Teaching classes)
Working with Director of Mission/Academics and Department Chairs to appreciate and understand the Brookfield Academy Middle School Curriculum
Visiting classrooms to see teachers in action and to understand the evaluation process
Working with Level Leaders and Dean of Students to oversee Middle School culture
These responsibilities will aim to provide the professional growth and experience for the assistant to transition into the role of Middle School Head for the 2019 - 2020 school year.
