Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938 as a residential proprietary boarding school for boys through eighth grade and has evolved remarkably over the past 77 years. The School has become a coeducational, nonprofit, interdenominational school with approximately 1350 students in Pre-Kindergarten3 through grade 12 representing approximately 44 countries. The school emphasizes the education of the whole person through the core values of honor, respect, wisdom, and compassion.
Miami Country Day School has an opening for a full-time, 12 month position as Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives. As a member of the Operations Team, this person will report directly to the President/Chief Operating Officer. The operational and strategic initiatives are focused on inspiring enthusiastic and dynamic advocates of the school, with the goal of advancing the school’s mission among our constituents and in the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the development of unique programs for the school community.
Assist in developing and maintaining an organizational culture of transparency and collaboration for the operations of an independent school.
Provide design, budget oversight, coordination, research, and solutions for the following areas:
Marketing and Communications (graphic design, public relations, social media, and website).
Assist in developing and maintaining corporate policies and records, including meetings of Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors.
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in communications and conversations.
Be an integral part of the corporate operations team, which includes the President/Chief Operating Officer, Comptroller, Dean of Faculty/Director of Human Resources and the Director of Auxiliary Programs & Corporate Operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
Knowledge of independent school administration, budgeting, marketing, enrollment management, and program design and management required.
Past supervisory and evaluation of employee and subcontractor performance experience required.
Effective project management skills with the ability to successfully guide and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously and to organize and drive projects to timely completion.
Highly organized with strong follow-through and an acute attention to detail.
An enthusiastic and positive individual with good interpersonal skills and a passion for supporting people.
Experience and proven ability to cultivate partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Ability and willingness to take initiative and present novel ideas with clarity and thouroghness.
Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, project management and graphic design software, DASL and accounting software.
May work long hours for extended periods of time.
Be able to lift 30 lbs.
Works in varied and changing weather conditions, including extreme heat.
Previous work experience in an independent school environment (preferred).
