MVS is seeking a dynamic and innovative Middle School History & English teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skillful educator who is eager to invest her/his talents in our middle school program. They must establish a supportive and engaging environment for students ranging from 6th-8th grade, demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, work collaboratively with colleagues and parents, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a teaching proficiency and comfort with a variety of different teaching and learning styles. As the middle school moves to a 85-minute classes, the candidate should be well-versed in implementing a curriculum that is innovative, student-centered, and interactive. Candidates should also have experience working with early adolescent children.

Develop a lifelong appreciation for learning and foster a lifelong learning ethos in their students
Demonstrate an ability to develop a positive rapport with students.
Communicate with parents in a prompt and effective manner, both orally and in writing.
Collaborate with the Middle School team to develop a continuity of instruction from EC through 12th grade.
Teach a total of 4 History and/or English classes
Serve as an advisor for a group of 10-12 students, leading weekly social-emotional lessons as well as parent-teacher conferences twice per year.
Serve as a leader or assistant for immersion, a 2-4 week integrated program across 6th-8th grade.
Lead a club related to your subject area and/or extracurricular area of interest.
Attend faculty meetings, division meetings, and department meetings.
Fulfill all other faculty responsibilities that may occur outside the school day, including writing reports and planning.
Undergraduate or Master Degree is required, preferably in the subject area or education.
Teaching experience strongly preferred, work with adolescent children required.
Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency (e.g.,word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet, presentation software, student information systems and online grade book programs)
