The Academic Technology Specialist is a member of the school’s technology department and reports to the Head of Academic Technology. This 10 month position (including an additional 10 days in the summer) is responsible for working with faculty and staff to integrate technology in support of the school’s mission and curricular goals. The ideal candidate will bring a history of both collaborative work and self-directed work, as well as a good sense of humor. They will also have had experience working with children in either a classroom or extracurricular setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the curricular and departmental goals as outlined by the Head of Academic Technology and the Director of Technology
Regularly attend meetings with academic departments and grade level teams to understand the culture and curricula of the school and plan integration strategies
Plan and provide ongoing one on one training, group sessions, and other professional development opportunities for faculty and staff
Support the development of and run tech focused clubs and extracurricular activities for students ? Participate in division and technology department meetings regularly
Collaborate with Park’s library and technology teams to design classroom experiences that integrate technology and making in meaningful ways
Support classroom teachers’ use of technology resources
Provide technology support to students
Provide occasional AV support throughout school, particularly in the theater
Provide Level 1 tech support to students, faculty, and staff
Occasionally interface with tech vendors and other third party service providers
Respectfully engage with a diverse community and ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion is emphasized as a core value of the School
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Mastery of the Google Apps for Education suite
Fluency within both Apple and Windows environments
Experience within Chromebook and iPad environments
Experience with coding and/or robotics
Experience with video and audio editing
Strong presentation skills
Knowledge of current trends in educational technology and professional development
Capable of generating high quality instructional materials
Enthusiasm for student-centered learning
Experience implementing applied learning through design thinking and project-based learning
Understanding of current trends in educational technology field
Supportive, collaborative, good communicator, and team player
Bachelor’s degree required
1-3 years of experience
